My Weekly Pull [69] & Can't Wait Wednesday [39]

My Weekly Pull is something I do every Wednesday to show which comics I had pulled for me that week! If you're into comics, or you're looking to start, please join me! If you decide to do your own post, there's a link-up at the bottom. I would love to stop by and check it out!

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #6 by Tom Taylor, Yildiray Cinar, Andrew Robinson
War of the Realms Journey Into Mystery #2 by Clint McElroy, Andre Araujo, Valerio Schiti
Shades of Magic #5 by V.E. Schwab, Andrea Olimpieri, Claudia SG Iannicello, Enrica Eren Angiolini

Jacob's comics for the week!
Hit-Girl Season Two #4 by Kevin Smith, Pernille Orum, Francesco Francavilla
Spider-Man Deadpool #50 by Robbie Thompson, Jim Towe, Dave Johnson, Matt Horak
Symbiote Spider-Man #2 (of 5) by Peter David, Greg Land

Unsurprisingly, Jacob did not get his list to me a week early. He emailed it to me this morning, which is why this is going up late. At least it's still Wednesday! Last weekend, STAR WARS DAY and FREE COMIC BOOK DAY were one and the same. We love Free Comic Book Day for obvious reasons, but I really like that my son can choose whatever he wants as well. They usually have a lot of good choices for children. Here's what we got this year:

FCBD 2019 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Casualty of War by Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz, Dave Watcher
FCBD 2019 Welcome to the Whedonverse #1 by Greg Pak, Jordie Bellaire, Ethan Young, Dan Mora, Greg Smallwood
FCBD 2019 Under the Moon: A Catwoman Tale Special Edition by Lauren Myracle, Kami Garcia, Gabriel Picolo, Issac Goodhart
FCBD 2019 Avengers #1 by Jason Aaron, Gerry Duggan, Stefano Caselli, Mike Deodato, Ed McGuinness

FCBD 2019 Lumberjanes: Shape of Friendship by Lilah Sturges, Kelly Thompson, Polterink, Savanna Ganucheau, Alexa Sharpe
FCBD 2019 Blastosaurus Annual #1 by Richard Fairgray, Paul Eiding
FCBD 2019 A Sheets Story by Brenna Thummler
FCBD 2019 Spider-Man #1 by Tom Taylor, Saladin Ahmed, Donny Cates, Cory Smith, Ryan Stegman, Jay Leisten,

My husband is thrilled about the TNMT comic, and I am pumped for the Buffy and Firefly combo! I've already read Under the Moon, but this special edition includes something from Kami Garcia! Avengers, because they're the Avengers, and the same goes for Spider-Man, but also look at all the awesome authors for that one! Blastosaurus and A Sheets Story are the two my son chose, so we'll see what those are like! Yay free comics!

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, that highlights upcoming releases that we're anticipating and excited to read. It's a spinoff of the feature Waiting on Wednesday that was hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Steel Tide (Seafire, #2)
by Natalie C. Parker
Synopsis (via Goodreads): The second book in a heart-stopping trilogy that follows the captain of an all-female ship intent on taking down a vicious warlord's powerful fleet.

Caledonia may have lost her crew, but she's not done fighting yet. After nearly dying at the hand of a powerful foe, Caledonia is pulled from the sea and nursed back to health by a crew of former Bullets that call themselves Blades. The Blades escaped Aric Athair's clutches and now live a nomadic existence, ready to disappear at a moment's notice should trouble come their way.

But Caledonia wants to do more than just hide. She wants to find the Mors Navis and her beloved sisters. She wants to continue fighting Aric's fleet and to take back the Bullet seas. She'll need to do everything in her power to convince the Blades that fighting is their only option, that there has to be a life better than the one under Aric Athair's reign, and that finding the women of the Mors Navis is the first step to revolution.

What do you think of the new covers? I think they're pretty badass, but I also liked the original! The first book ended with a bang, and definitely left me wanting more, so I'm really anxious to see where the story goes from there!

    1. I don't always like covers that have actual people on them, but I think these work! It might also be because I've already read the first book and have a general image of the characters in my head. ;)

  3. You got the list eventually and that's something. And wow there are so many comics! And I didn't know there's be a free Lumberjanes! That's pretty awesome, not gonna lie.

    1. It is something, just not the something he promised, haha! There were a ton of comics available, but these were the ones we brought home. Have you read Lumberjanes? I think I read an issue a few months ago, but I can't remember. People seem to like it! :)

  4. I am really curious about the Shades of Magic graphics! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I loved Sheets, but I like the original cover better. ๐Ÿ‘✨

I'm linked. I think the Giant Days graphic novels are going to save me from a reading slump this week. ๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. The Shades of Magic series has been great so far! I thought they were stopping after #4, but I was wrong or something changed! I'm happy there's going to be more! I'm happy to hear sheets was good. Do you think a five-year-old will like it? I still need to read Giant Days!

  5. Under The Moon looks fun! How is War of the Realms going?

    Steel Tide looks amazing!

Ooh I reviewed Kelly thompson's Capt. Marvel #1 earlier this week (yes, shameless self promotion again lol). Are you reading those?

    1. Under the Never Moon...didn't work for me. I don't do well with animal cruelty, especially when it's unnecessary or avoidable. I haven't read any of the War of the Realms yet! That was Jacob's choice, but he thought I would like the one with Kate and Miles. Looks great! I'll let you know.

I'm super pumped for Steel Tide! Did you read Seafire? Badass female crew of sort-of pirates? ;)

Yes! Promote away! I don't want to miss these posts! I'll check it out in a few. :) No, I'm not reading her Captain Marvel, although I considered it. I'm trying to keep my list where it is, so I don't wander back into thisissooverwhelmingomg territory. ;)

    1. Is the Schwab Butt a thing? If it is, that's news to me! Also, I'm really curious now, haha. Do her covers often feature male butts?

    1. Yes! I really enjoyed that one. I would suggest reading it closer to the second book's release date, because the ending will definitely leave you wanting more. ;)

  8. I hadn't heard of the Seafire books before but I think I like the sound of them... If it's a trilogy though I'll probably wait until book 3 is closer. (I'm a really bad bookworm for doing that...)

I must remember to join your weekly pull some weeks. I'm not a comic book reader but the little dude loves them and we go once or twice a month and haul a load back.

    1. I always love it when I can read a series from start to finish without having to wait years between books. I like being able to jump back into the story whenever I want! However, it's so hard not to read the pretty new books when they're released, haha.

Feel free to join whenever you want! I would love to see what you're little dude is reading, since my little dude is always looking for new stuff! :)
