Some Girls Do by Jennifer Dugan
Expected publication: May 18th 2021 by G.P. Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers

Synopsis (via Goodreads): In this YA contemporary queer romance from the author of Hot Dog Girl , an openly gay track star falls for a closeted, bisexual teen beauty queen with a penchant for fixing up old cars.

Morgan, an elite track athlete, is forced to transfer high schools late in her senior year after it turns out being queer is against her private Catholic school's code of conduct. There, she meets Ruby, who has two hobbies: tinkering with her baby blue 1970 Ford Torino and competing in local beauty pageants, the latter to live out the dreams of her overbearing mother. The two are drawn to each other and can't deny their growing feelings. But while Morgan--out and proud, and determined to have a fresh start--doesn't want to have to keep their budding relationship a secret, Ruby isn't ready to come out yet. With each girl on a different path toward living her truth, can they go the distance together?

  1. I am curious about this one. I really liked Hot Dog Girl.

    1. I still haven't read Hot Dog Girl! I've heard it's a cute book. :)

  2. Having to transfer to a different school for that reason is awful.

    1. Being banned from a school for being queer is soooo wrong. Love whoever the fuck you want to love! People really need to get over their homophobia and move on with their lives.

  3. Oooh, I actually have some comics this week! Our comic store finally was allowed to re-open under the government rules and we went on a binge. :)

    1. Yay! We finally went to a comic book store on Mother's Day! It's the first time we've been in ages. We've been ordering all of ours online during the pandemic. It's just not the same. What did you get?? Tell me! ;)

  4. I love Hellboy! ๐Ÿ‘

Some Girls Do sounds great. ๐Ÿ“š

    1. I can't wait to read the Hellboy comic! It's one of my favorite movies.
