State of the ARC [12]

State of the ARC is a monthly meme hosted by Avalinah at Avalinah's Books! It's an opportunity for readers to catch up on their long overdue ARCs, but right now I'm using it to keep up with my upcoming ARCs instead. It helps me stay organized!

The Last Hope (The Raging Ones, #2) by Krista Ritchie, Becca Ritchie (8/13)
Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (7/23)
Rage (Stormheart, #2) by Cora Carmack (8/27)

Cursed by Thomas Wheeler, Frank Miller (Illustrator) (10/1)
Frankly in Love by David Yoon (9/10)
Shatter the Sky (Shatter the Sky, #1) by Rebecca Kim Wells (7/30)

Please Send Help (I Hate Everyone But You, #2) by Gaby Dunn, Allison Raskin (7/16)
When the Stars Lead to You by Ronni Davis (11/12)
Queen of Ruin (Grace and Fury, #2) by Tracy Banghart (7/2)

The Grace Year by Kim Liggett (10/8)
Wilder Girls by Rory Power (7/9)
Nothing to Fear (Final Hour, #2) by Juno Rushdan (8/27)

Twice in a Blue Moon by Christina Lauren (10/22)
The Lady Rogue by Jenn Bennett (9/3)
Ever Alice by H.J. Ramsay (8/1)

Five ARCs for July! That's not too bad. Queen of Ruin is for a blog tour, which is why I haven't read it yet. However, I am currently on schedule for the others (fingers crossed). After celebrating my birthday last weekend, I've been struggling to find my reading groove again. I had a lot of housework to catch up on, and I wanted to spend time with my monsters. I've also been going to bed early and taking naps with them, haha. So far... being thirty is exhausting. ;)

I'm really excited about all of my July books, but it's tempting not to skip ahead and read some of the others first. The Lady Rogue is one of my most anticipated reads this year, but it doesn't come out until September. Rage is another book I'm really looking forward to, especially after how the first book left things... so aaaaahhh! We were about to get somewhere, and then the story stops. I have similar feelings about Queen of Ruin. It had one hell of a cliffhanger!

All of these look amazing, and I cannot wait to read them! Are any of these on your TBR? Which book would you read first?

  1. I adore Krista & Becca Ritchie and their contemporary series are some of my all-time favorites. I wish The Raging Ones had worked for me but I ended up DNFing it. I just could not get into that one and by the 40% mark I gave up. I hope you'll love The Last Hope! I'm super excited about Twice in a Blue Moon and was shocked when I got approved for it. LOL

    1. I had a few issues with the story, but the ending really sucked me in (!!!). I didn't know it was going to be part of a series, so I was confused when it ended the way it did (huge cliffhanger), and I've been anxious to see what happens. I need to re-read my review of the first book to refresh my memory of the story. I can only recall vague details, like it being really cold, and them living together and trying to pass as "civilized". Oh! And predetermined days that you die. I'm pumped for Twice in a Blue Moon! <3

  2. I don't share any of your July books, but I do have Twice in a Blue Moon, which I am excited about. I am jealous you got the Yoon and Davis books. I have both on my TBR. Fingers crossed these all work for you

    1. After reading The Unhoneymooners, I was thrilled when I was approved for Twice in a Blue Moon! I've really enjoyed their last few books, and I'm hoping this one lives up to my expectations. I think it will, since people are already saying good things about it. :)

Frankly in Love was unexpected book mail, and When the Stars Lead to You was something I traded for (#arcsfortrade on Twitter). I feel incredibly lucky to have both, since I've been wanting to read them for ages!

  3. I also have an ARC of The Last Hope! I hope to get started on it soon so I don't feel rushed to read it in August. It took me a a pretty long time to read the first book, so I want to give myself enough time.

When I got approved for Twice in a Blue Moon, I couldn't wait! I really liked it, and I hope you do as well. :)

The Lady Rogue is one of my most anticipated as well. I haven't downloaded it from NG yet (I'm playing catch-up on my current ARCs), but I'm excited to jump into it. :)

Best of luck with your ARC reading!

    1. I would love to be able to read books in advance, but I typically read them the month of their release, haha. It's so hard to keep myself from posting a review, because I want to share my feelings as soon as I finish the book! These days... publishers are asking that we hold off on our reviews until closer to publication, and I try to respect that. It just means forcing myself to wait to read them!

I'm really looking forward to starting Twice in a Blue Moon! CLO has been on fire lately! <3 I hope we both love The Lady Rogue. Jenn Bennett is my JAM.

    1. Yes! Roar was a really interesting read. I love the world Carmack created, and the story is unique and fascinating. I have minor issues with the characters (if I remember correctly), but nothing that I couldn't look past!

    1. The Unhoneymooners was hilarious and I loved it! I also enjoyed Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating. Wilder Girls is one of my most anticipated reads, even though I typically don't like scary books, haha. We'll see how it goes!

  8. The Last Hope and Rage are highly anticipated! I love the cover for When the Stars Lead to You! I'm so glad we are finally getting Rage! I agree that the ending was a major cliffie for me! And hey, I'm about to turn 25 next weekend and I'm already taking naps and going to sleep early ๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. I cannot wait to read Rage! I feel like I should re-read Roar first, or at least my review, haha. I remember how it ends, but feel like I need to refresh my memory of the world. Naps are wonderful, and I look forward to those few times I'm able to squeeze one in during the day. An early bedtime is often not doable, but always appreciated. I tend to do all the housework at night once the kids are asleep. It's easier that way!

  9. I requested the Christina Lauren so we'll see but otherwise I don't have any arc's and about 50 physical books left over from past conferences. YAY!!!
