Stacking the Shelves [6]

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. This meme is for sharing all the books you’ve added to your shelves throughout the week month (because I try not to add too many books during a single week, haha).

Library:
Bannerless (The Coast Road, #1) by Carrie Vaughn
Warcross (Warcross, #1) by Marie Lu
Cress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3) by Marissa Meyer

I am always happy to continue The Lunar Chronicles! This series is just really, really good. The audiobooks (which is what Cress is) have been stellar! Rebecca Soler is one of my favorite narrators. I've heard a lot of wonderful things about Warcross, too. Bannerless is new to me, but I love Carrie Vaughn.

NetGalley:
Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart
Sadie by Courtney Summers
Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris
Tell Me No Lies (Follow Me Back #2) by A.V. Geiger

I'm really excited about all of these! Especially Sadie! I cannot wait to dive into that one. I don't think any of them are going to be an easy read. Based on their blubs, I think the rest of my May books are going to be a tad darker than what I've been reading lately.

Giveaways:
In Her Skin by Kim Savage
Doll Hearts by Colleen Clayton
Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage

I've won a few giveaways over the last few weeks! This never happens! Doll Hearts also came with a Yankee candle that smells divine. It's called Flowers in the Sun and is essentially happiness in a jar. Sniffing it right now for verification! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Fifty and Other F-Words is going to be hilarious! I skimmed the first few pages and can tell that I'll enjoy reading it. I may not be able to relate to everything, but there will be a lot that resonates with me.

Baby Teeth is going to freak me out... "But Mommy stands in her way, and she'll try any trick she can think of to get rid of her. Ideally for good." That's from the synopsis on Goodreads! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ In Her Skin sounds like it will be incredibly suspenseful! Can you imagine taking on a missing person's identity just to have a home?

Purchased:
Fools Rush In by Kristan Higgins
Night After Night (Seductive Nights, #1) by Lauren Blakely
Prophecy (The Dragon King Chronicles, #1) by Ellen Oh
Mad Love (A Mad Love Story, #1) by Colet Abedi
What's Left of Me (What's Left of Me, #1) by Amanda Maxlyn
Gem & Dixie by Sara Zarr

Most of these were ridiculously good deals on Amazon! They were either $1.99 or free! I've wanted to read Gem & Dixie for ages!

These are my newest additions over the last few weeks! Have you read any of them? Which one would you recommend I read first?

  1. Omg.... I LOVE Cress. I absolutely adore The Lunar Chronicles and Cress is my favorite character. Winter is my second. You should let me know what you think of the book when youre done with it! I need to add Warcross onto my TBR too since everyone is reading it xD. Prophecy also looks really interesting as well. I'll have to check it out later!

    Keep on Reading

  2. Yes, I love the Lunar Chronicles! I want to reread them, but don't know when I'll have the time! Gem & Dixie was also very good - sad, but good!

    1. Sad? Thanks for letting me know! I have to be in the mood for sad books, because when they catch me by surprise I'm wrecked for a week. It's impossible to really enjoy a book immediately afterwards, because my mind always drifts back to it. TLC has been AWESOME. They're definitely going to be re-reads for me, too.

  3. Oooh sooo excited for you to read Cress and Warcross, both of which I ADORED. I haven't finished the entire Lunar Chronicles series yet, but I've read until Cress. And Warcross was just another Marie Lu masterpiece. I also got Sadie last month and can't wait to dive into it!

    1. My first Marie Lu! I've been following her on Twitter for ages, but this will be my first book (I'm terrible, I know). The Lunar Chronicles has been stellar so far! I've been pacing myself so I don't burn through the series too fast. I feel like it's something I could binge-read within a week. I feel like Sadie is going to be amazing!

  4. I picked up 2 from NetGalley. I had stopped trying to get any from them because I was always turned down but I've gotten a few that I requested this month.

    1. It's a bummer when you get declined, but I always remind myself that I can buy it for myself in a few months. :)

What two did you get this month?

  7. Nice acquisitions. I loved Warcross. Marie Lu can do no wrong in my opinion. I am excited to read Sadie and Tell Me No Lies. I am really curious to see where Geiger goes with that story. In Her Skin was dark, but pretty good and twisted. Hope you love them all.

    1. I haven't read anything by Marie Lu, so I'm excited to start Warcross! I'm happy to hear In Her Skin was good. I've been reading a few twisty stories lately, so I'm sure this one will fit right in.

  8. I've been meaning to start the Lunar Chronicles for AGES. I even own the first three books and it *still* hasn't happened. Gah! I really need to move those up the TBR because everyone raves about them!

    1. This month, lol. I don't really get that many books in a week! Who has the time to read them all?! But thank you! I'm really excited about them.

  13. I can't believe I haven't read The Lunar Chronicles, I started book one years ago but wasn't in the mood and never bothered to pick it up again. Once I'm through my immediate TBR, I'll have to try it again. On paper and from all the reviews I've read, I should absolutely love it. My husband read and really enjoyed Warcross, it's such a shame the covers are so plain. Marie Lu is such an incredible author and I feel like they've done her dirty with such meh covers of the series. That's a hard nope on Bay Teeth, holy shit that sounds creepy AF Linds, read that one next because I'm dying to see what you make of it ♥♥♥

    1. I can't believe you haven't read it either, lol. I thought I was the last one. ;)

I love that your husband reads YA. My husband scoffs at it, but he's big on philosophy and science. I supply the fiction to our shelves and he provides the non. We play argue (read: very seriously argue) over the better type of literature. I like reading for pleasure and fun, and he likes reading to learn something. Although, I argue that you can learn something from anything you read if you really want to. We have fun with our differences, and we've each tried to rec books to the other. What was it I read... Palo Alto by James Franco and My Brother the Sea by Jack Kerouac, I think. I swear it took a 6 months to read less than 200 pages. You couldn't make me read them. I don't want to have to REALLY think when I read, because that's what I do all day every day. I want to smile and laugh and love what I'm reading. Sorry, that went on for awhile... haha.

I cannot wait to read Warcross and see why everyone loves Marie Lu! I don't know what her other covers look like, but I like it when covers realistically portray what's in a book. You can always tell when the cover was made by someone who's actually read the book. It makes a huge difference! It's like they just get it, you know?

The synopsis alone is enough to freak me out about Baby Teeth. I feel like I need to read it during the day with all the windows open!

    2. It's also totally okay that my husband and I don't like the same things! That's why there are so many books in the world--something for everyone.

  14. Lindsi! I have a copy of all four Lunar Chronicles books but I have been intimidated by them, to be honest. They're so hyped and the books sound like they're more sci-fi. Hopefully, when I pick them up, we can fangirl together. I also haven't read Marie Lu's first trilogy yet, but I have heard awesome things about Warcross. Can't wait to see what you think of that one. It has a beautiful cover. That's for sure!

    1. I avoided TLC for the SAME REASON. I was scared my expectations would be too high because of all the hype. However, these book DELIVER. I really love the audiobooks for them (Rebecca Soler is amazing), but I plan on buying physical copies in the future.

I haven't read Marie Lu's first trilogy either! Warcross will be my first.

    1. I have LOVED all of Marissa Meyer's books! Heartless, Cinder, Scarlet--WONDERFUL. I'm currently listening to the audiobook for Renegades. They're all narrated by Rebecca Soler, and I adore her voice and the way she reads books.
