The Sunday Post [54]

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at the Caffeinated Reviewer! It's an opportunity to share news, post a recap for the previous week, showcase books, and highlight what's planned for the week ahead.

News:

We've had a really rainy week, but the kids have loved it! They've been warm summer storms, so the monsters have been able to play outside to their heart's content. Occasionally, Jacob and I will join them on the trampoline, but they're happy just running around like the sky is a giant sprinkler. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We're still house hunting, so fingers crossed something pops up that we like! I really don't want to read through another contract though, haha.

I hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying what's left of the summer! I know a few of you have kids that are already back in school, and I'm thankful we still have another month before tackling that particular beast.

What I'm currently reading:

The Clockwork Crow (The Clockwork Crow, #1) by Catherine Fisher
Quintessence by Jess Redman
The Silver Arrow by Lev Grossman
  • I'm reading The Clockwork Crow with my son, which we're both enjoying. It's very short, so we should finish it soon! Quintessence is one I'm reading with my girls, and while they're too young to fully comprehend the story, they do ask questions occasionally. I'm really liking it so far! The Silver Arrow is an audiobook we've been listening to in the car, so it's taking us a little longer to get through it (we never have a reason to go anywhere anymore). I've been reading through a physical copy on my on, just so I can review it on time. I highly recommend all three of these for fans of MG!

What I plan on reading next:

Where Dreams Descend (Kingdom of Cards, #1) by Janella Angeles
All Eyes on Her by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn
Ink & Sigil (Ink & Sigil, #1) by Kevin Hearne

What I'm watching:

Nothing!

  1. We didn't get any of the usual summer thunder storms we've gotten in the past. I kind of missed them. We haven't spent much time outside because of the heat, although yesterday we visited a park with a lake and took a stroll. There was quite a bit of shade so it wasn't too bad. We had a lovely time.

I love the cover of The Clockwork Crow. I'll have to check it out. I hope you enjoy your reading and have a great rest of the summer!

    1. Thunderstorms are one of the few things I like about summer, haha. I despise the heat, sweating, and feeling like my face is going to fry off. ;) I'm much happier during the cooler months. <3 I'm happy you had a lovely time on your stroll! There are a lot of wooded areas around here, so we try to stick to those whenever we're out and about. Unfortunately, BUGS also stay in the shade, and it's like I have a huge "BITE ME" sign taped to my forehead.

The Clockwork Crow was pretty good! A little too short and underdeveloped, but good!

  2. It's always fun to frolic in the rain. Good luck with the house hunting. I hope you find something fabulous so you can take advantage of the great interest rates right now.

    1. Agreed! Thanks! We THINK we've found something, so we'll see. We should know in the next say or two. :)

    1. Yes! I love reading during thunderstorms. Unfortunately, this house loses power whenever the wind blows too hard, so we tend to get uncomfortable and grouchy if we stay indoors for too long. Playing in the rain is a much better alternative. ;)

  4. Good luck with the house hunting, its so exciting going for a new house, we are busy doing ours up as we are thinking if moving too, but we have a lot of painting to do before we get there.

    Have a lovely week.

    1. Getting ready to sell is just as stressful as buying! So much work goes into both. :) Have fun painting! We're going to be doing a lot of that whenever we find a house we like. The kids have already told us what colors they want for their rooms.

  5. I don't think I knew you were moving, best of luck to you all! I wish it was raining more over here, nothing just humidity. But we did have that crazy tornado warning on Monday.

I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Where Dreams Descend!

    1. We're not military moving, just new house moving. :) We've decided to buy instead of rent while we're at this duty station. <3 The rain was definitely needed here! It was so humid, I started sweating the second I walked outside. UGH, GROSS. The rain has helped, but now it's just muggy. You had a tornado warning too? Are we neighbors??? YES. I am REALLY looking forward to reading that one.

  6. I hope that house hunting goes well! I've also struggled with finding time to listen to audiobooks now that I don't have any reason to go out now. I always listened to them in the car.

    1. We made another offer, so fingers crossed! I've been listening to audiobooks while I cook/clean, since they're things I do every day. ;)

  7. Can you send a bit of your rain here? I'm sweating just by sitting on the back of my pants and typing away (well, not really, because I'm in front of a giant fan when I type LOL). Glad that the two of you and the kids are having fun though! And again, good luck on the house hunt!

    1. Hah! We're still sweating! The other day it rained, but the sun was still shining in the sky. I was sitting on the porch DRENCHED in sweat, while the kids played in the rain. Crazy, right?
