State of the ARC [22]

State of the ARC is a monthly meme hosted by Avalinah at Avalinah's Books! It's an opportunity for readers to catch up on their long overdue ARCs, but right now I'm using it to keep up with my upcoming ARCs instead. It helps me stay organized! Edit: State of the ARC is temporarily being hosted by Sarah (All the Book Blog Names Are Taken) while Evelina is on hiatus.

  1. There's a lot of really good horror novels set to release soon. I love horror movies, but don't read as many novels in the genre as I'd like to. I've got Survivor Song by Paul Tremblay, The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones, and Home Before Dark by Riley Sager all set to read soon!

    1. I avoid any and all horror, haha! It totally freaks me out, and I hate feeling scared. It impacts my sleep, and I swear I'll see things that aren't there. ;) Best of luck to you though! I really want to know what you think about The Only Good Indians, so I'll be looking for your review. <3

  2. I just finished Head Over Heels today. I liked it very much, though, I am going to call this one women's fiction and not romance. It had a strong romantic subplot, but this really was about the main character trying to figure out her life after watching her dreams go up in smoke.

    1. I feel like that's happening more and more lately! Books are being marketed as Romance when they should be Women's Fiction. When a book claims to be ROMANCE, I want smooching and love, swooning and heart eyes! When the romance is small, a subplot, or underdeveloped, I'm disappointed. I still really want to read this one though, but I'll go into it with different expectations. Thanks, Same! :)

  4. I've read Kim Harrison before and liked her books. Most of the reviews I've posted lately were written a few months ago. I haven't been much into reading lately.

    1. This will actually be my first Kim Harrison book! I know this is a spinoff of another series, but I was told by someone who has read both, that you don't need to have read the one before reading the other (which is good, since the other series had like 15 books, haha). I have a lot of books I still need to review, but my blogging and reading time haven't been a priority this week. The world is on fire, and it takes a lot up a lot of my mental energy.

  5. I have Girl, Unframed to read and I'm so curious about it! I also want to read I Killed Zoe Spanos and The New One - I'll be curious to see reviews for those.

    1. I love Deb Caletti, but it's been ages since I read one of her books! I actually got to here her speak once, and it's something I still think about today. :) I have a feeling I Killed Zoe Spanos is going to leave me feeling freaked out. I'm saving The New One for a rainy day and when I really need a laugh. <3

  6. I think I might really like Meet You in the Middle and Admission. So many titles that look like great reads.

    1. I know we don't read too many of the same genres, but there is some overlap! I'm always curious to see what new books you've gotten or requested, because they're usually not books I've heard about before. :)

  7. I'm absolutely DYING for Chasing Lucky to be released! I thought it was coming out sooner but it might have been pushed back here as well. I NEED IT! I'm terrible when it comes to keeping up with book releases so thank you for doing all the hard work for me Linds ๐Ÿ˜‚

And I miss you! I'll message you during the week for a catch up! ๐Ÿ˜˜

    1. I actually started reading it a few weeks ago with Karen, but I'm not enjoying it as much as I thought I would! I keep putting it down and forgetting about it. The main character is super frustrating, but I do like Lucky so far... I don't know. I'm sure I'll finish it at some point! It's release date WAS pushed back several months, so you're not imagining things. ;)

Yes! Please do! I feel like we haven't spoken in ages. <3

    1. I know! I thought more publishers would push their release dates back, but it looks like everyone is trying to "get back to normal" these days. I can understand not wanting to get too far behind, but I also don't think authors will be able to do a lot of traveling right now to promote their books. A few were pushed back to December!
