State of the ARC [7]

State of the ARC is a monthly meme hosted by Avalinah at Avalinah's Books! It's an opportunity for readers to catch up on their long overdue ARCs, but I use it to keep up with my upcoming ARCs instead. Shhh... don't tell!

At the end of December 2018:
The Deceivers (The Valhalla Academy, #1) by Kristen Simmons
Wicked Saints (Something Dark and Holy, #1) by Emily A. Duncan
You'd Be Mine by Erin Hahn
Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen McManus
In Another Life by C.C. Hunter
To Best the Boys by Mary Weber

The Gilded Wolves (The Gilded Wolves, #1) by Roshani Chokshi
White Stag (Permafrost, #1) by Kara Barbieri
Saving Meghan by D.J. Palmer
The Last Woman in the Forest by Diane Les Becquets
American Princess: A Novel of First Daughter Alice Roosevelt by Stephanie Marie Thornton
Glow: Book I, Potency by Aubrey Hadley

Happy New Year to me! I am really, really excited about my upcoming reads, and I hope they're all amazing! To Best the Boys is one I recently acquired, and I think I might start it first! Although, I've heard wonderful things about The Last Women in the Forest and You'd Be Mine, so it's hard to choose! What books are you anxiously awaiting this year? Let me know!

    1. I do! I'm having trouble deciding what I want to read. I know I should probably read them in the order they'll be released, but that never happens. ;)

  2. I really want to read Two Can Keep a Secret. I have You'd Be Mine and The Deceivers, so I will be reading them for sure.

    1. Would you want to borrow my copy when I'm finished? You can just mail it back to me when you're done! DM me your address on Twitter, or send me an email, and I'll get it to you. I'm really looking forward to both You'd Be Mine and The Deceivers! Two totally different books, but both sound awesome. <3

    1. Me too! I'm starting Two Can Keep a Secret next for a blog tour post, and then I was thinking about reading The Last Woman in the Forest -- love the premise! :)

    1. The White Stag will be one of my next reads! I've seen mixed reviews for it, so hopefully it works out! The move wasn't smooth, but we've settled into the new place. Now we just have to find a new routine! :)

    1. I haven't heard very much about The Wicked Saints, but the synopsis sounds really interesting! I'm really looking forward to the story and seeing if it meets my expectations! I hope your reading month is equally awesome! :)

  7. Ooh, there's like three of these I'm excited for in 2019! (But getting around to reading them is a different story...)

    1. Which three are you excited about? Hah! I know what you mean. Since moving, I've found very little time to sit down and read. There's always something else that needs to be done! Good luck with your books!

  11. Ooh, some great looking books waiting for you there! I've not got any of these myself so I'll be interested to know what you think of them

    1. I'm interested to know what I think of them, too! Haha! I have to start making time for reading again. I haven't felt like doing anything since the move -- organizing and cleaning seem to fill my days (only once the kids are asleep, because they're very demanding). ;)

  12. I'm reading White Stag right now and I hate it. ๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. Oh no! What do you hate? I'm only 10% in, so I don't have any strong feelings yet. I like the idea of goblins and the Permafrost, but some of the language feels weird. We'll see where it goes! I'm sorry it isn't working for you.

  13. Ooooo White Stag! I finished that the other day and it was okay??? Not a big fan, but I didn't hate it either. Hopefully you'll enjoy it though!

    1. I actually DNFd that one earlier today! Janneke and Soren act like total strangers even though they've been together for a century. It was a little frustrating, and often repetitive.

  14. I read You'd Be Mine a couple months ago and loved it! Happy reading!

  15. I'm excited to hear what you say about The Gilded Wolves! The cover is beyond gorgeous! I read The Star-Touched Queen and absolutely loved the writing and story but was unable to connect to the characters or romance. I'm hoping this book will be a better fit for me.

    1. The Gilded Wolves is coming up soon! I'm trying to read them in order, and I believe it has an earlier release date. I actually had to make a list this month to keep track of which books where coming out when, and which ones were for a blog tour -- phew! I'm behind because of the move, and I'm still trying to catch up from my week off.

I hope it's a better fit for you! I always have trouble with books when I'm unable to connect to the characters.
