My Weekly Pull [30]

My Weekly Pull is something I do every Wednesday to show which comics I had pulled for me that week! If you're into comics, or you're looking to start, please join me! If you decide to do your own post, leave a link in the comments. I would love to stop by and check it out!

Hunt for Wolverine Mystery in Madripoor #3 (of 4) by Jim Zub, Thony Silas, Giuseppe Camuncoli
Marvel Two-In-One #8 by Chip Zdarsky, Jim Cheung
Moon Knight #197 by Max Bemis, Ty Templeton, Becky Cloonan
Venom #4 by Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman
Wakanda Forever X-Men #1 by Nnedi Okorafor, Ray-Anthony Height, Skottie Young

Jacob's comics for the week! (I might read them eventually...)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
#84 by Tom Waltz, Dave Watcher, Kevin Eastman
Transformers Unicron #2 by James Roberts, Alex Milne
Hit-Girl #6 by Jeff Lemire, Eduardo Risso, Rob Liefeld
Amazing Spider-Man #2 by Nick Spencer, Ryan Ottley
Deadpool Assassin #4 (of 6) by Cullen Bunn, Mark Bagley
Infinity Wars Prime by Gerry Duggan, Mike Deodato
Punisher #228 by Matthew Rosenberg, Guiu Vilanova, Clayton Crain

I think the women in Hunt for Wolverine Mystery in Madripoor are my favorite group searching for Wolverine (or his body). I'm really enjoying the all-female team and the story surrounding them. They've recently been attacked by Viper and her crew, but I'm still not sure what their motives are. They're clearly working for someone, but I have no idea who that someone is. I'm also curious how the appearance of Magneto will alter things. Oh, and they always look amazing while they're kicking ass!

The covers for Moon Knight and Venom are dark and disconcerting. A head is typically attached to a body... I know this isn't always the case in comics, and there have been quite a few unattached heads that function without any issues. Sometimes it's just a brain.

This is the second Wakanda Forever and there should only be one more after it. I really liked the last issue with Spider-Man, so I cannot wait to see how the X-Men contribute to the story!

    1. I always like the Skottie Young variants! He draws the characters as children. :)

  2. The little dude loves his comics but I struggle to find enough of them that are appropriate for him in our local store. Wakanda Forever might work. Is it a 'T'? I can't quite make it out from the picture.

    1. How old is your little dude? I really like Kelly Thompson's work, and she's writing a new Nancy Drew. It just started, so he shouldn't have any trouble starting from the beginning. I haven't read it myself, but it's rated T. I believe Wakanda Forever is also a T, and the first one I read with Spider-Man was fine. There's only going to be three issues for this series. My husband and son read one of the Transformers comics together. I know some of them can be pretty violent, but I think he found one that wasn't. The same with TMNT.

Do you remember Duck Tales? It was a show I watched growing up... they've made a comic for that as well. It seems like it would be fun for kids! I hope this helps. I can make some other recommendations if you need me to. <3

  3. Wakanda Forever seems to have fun illustrations. And yeah, two headless covers! LOL I don't mind the dark aspects of comics though. :)

    1. It's just a variant cover for Wakanda Forever! The inner illustrations will not look like that. :)

Sometimes the darker stories have more depth!

    1. Moon Knight is really interesting! I was hesitant at first (excessive violence) but now I'm hooked. He lives with other personalities in his head (one happens to be a god/deity), and fights crime. It's not like other hero comics... this one has a darker feel to it.

    1. Skottie Young always does a brilliant job creating covers! I believe he's also writing something now... I just cannot remember what.

  8. The Wakanda Forever cover is absolutely adorable! Is that just an artists rendition to draw them as being child like or are they actually still children within the comic as well? Because that I could mot definitely get on board with Linds ♡♡♡

    1. Skottie Young draws variant covers! He always draws the characters as younger versions of themselves (the irony of his name is not lost on me, lol). They are not actually children within the comic--just a fun cover! They are almost always adorable, though. You should Google some of his other work... baby Venom is the cutest!

  9. That Wakanda Forever cover is cute. Venom looks pretty awesome. But I really like the sound of the Madripoor one- the female team sounds pretty kickass, and I always liked Viper as a villain. I was pretty down on Marvel's covers for a while but they seem to be hitting it out the park lately. Or maybe I'm just paying more attention.

    1. Skottie Young covers are always adorable! You should Google some of his other work. Madripoor is my favorite of the four. Easily. It's just such an awesome group of women, and they're individual quest is so interesting!
