My Weekly Pull [28] & Can't Wait Wednesday [3]

My Weekly Pull is something I do every Wednesday to show which comics I had pulled for me that week! If you're into comics, or you're looking to start, please join me! If you decide to do your own post, leave a link in the comments. I would love to stop by and check it out!

Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows #21 by Jody Houser, Scott Koblish, Ryan Stegman
Domino #4 by Gail Simone, David Baldeon, Greg Land
Hunt for Wolverine Adamantium Agenda #3 (of 4) by Tom Taylor, R. Silva, Greg Land
New Mutants Dead Souls #5 (of 6) by Matthew Rosenberg, Adam Gorham, Ryan Stegman

Jacob's comics for the week! (I might read them eventually...)

Optimus Prime #20
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Urban Legends #3
Transformers Unicron #1
Amazing Spider-Man #1
Daredevil #605
Deadpool Assassin #3
Punisher #227

Domino might have a new love interest, and he looks great without a shirt on! He popped up at the end of the last issue and caused Domino to lose her filter. She was rambling on about having a boyfriend but it not being exclusive... it was like her brain and mouth had stopped communicating. From the cover, I would guess the two are getting a little cozy... ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm actually really excited for all four of these! Hunt for Wolverine Adamantium Agenda and New Mutants Dead Souls are both one away from their last issue. I'm happy because things are winding down and coming to and end, but it's also sad because they're ending. At least I still have The Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows! It's sooo good.

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, that highlights upcoming releases that we're anticipating and excited to read. It's a spinoff of the feature Waiting on Wednesday that was hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Dare You to Lie (Hometown Antihero, #1)
by Amber Lynn Natusch
Expected publication: September 4, 2018
Synopsis (via Goodreads): When her FBI agent father is framed for murder, Kylene is forced to move in with her grandfather, back to the small town that turned its back on her, and the boy who betrayed her.

All Ky cares about is clearing her father’s name, but someone won’t let her forget the photo scandal that drove her away two years ago. As the threats gain momentum, Ky finds an unlikely ally in the rookie FBI agent sent to keep an eye on her.

Determined to expose the town's hidden skeletons, Ky unwittingly thrusts herself into a much bigger plot. They thought she’d forgive and forget. They’re about to learn they messed with the wrong girl.

๐‘‹

I'm not usually into suspenseful thrillers, but I don't think I'll be able to resist this one! Ky's father was framed for murder and she's having to deal with a scandal from her past. I feel like there's a lot going on, and I'm curious how she'll handle everything. I also want to know what the town is hiding, and how her relationship with a new FBI agent will work out...

    1. It's always a happy/sad thing when something awesome ends, but they're always making new comics to read! Sometimes it's the same comic with a different writer, or just a new arc.

  3. Ooh, Dare You to Lie sounds really good! I agree, it does seem like there's a lot going on, so I'd be interested to see how it all works together!

    1. I want to know if her father's current problems and her past issues are related…

  4. YA mystery/thrillers can be hit or miss with me. Sometimes they feel so “tame” and the “big mystery” is so obvious. But it’s always exciting to find one that’s done well. And the early reviews for this one sure are favorable!

    1. It's been the same in my experience! I don't like it when a story is too easy to figure out on my own... I want to be shocked and amazed! I want it to be something I never expected. It's been awhile since I've read a really good one. Hopefully this one will be! :)

  5. The only comics I've been reading lately are back issues of Giant Days, which I adore. There's something about the slice of life meets humour combo that always works for me in comics. Oooh okay, Dare You to Lie is calling my name. I know it's a cliche but the whole "you messed with the wrong girl" thing ALWAYS works for me!

    1. I haven't heard of Giant Days! Greg from Book Haven recommended The Jetsons to me the other day. He said it's similar to the show with minor adjustments... the kids are older and Jane (his wife, I think that's her name) is a scientist instead of a personal shopper. I've been wanting to check it out for nostalgic purposes. <3

I think Dare You to Lie has the potential to be REALLY good! :)

    1. See... I'm the opposite! I've been avoiding thrillers and looking for happy, lovey-dovey books. <3 However, the synopsis for this one really caught my attention and made me want to read it, so hopefully it's great!

    2. I hope you enjoy it! I have to be in the mood for lovey-dovey books, otherwise I end up not finishing them.

    1. She's the best! We've been learning more about her past, which was brutal and heartbreaking, and it's been interesting to see sort of where she came from. The "What made you this way?" question is being answered.

    1. Is it the newest Lockjaw mini series? My son saw that at the comic book store and really wanted to read it! When didn't get it that day, so you'll have to let me know how it is! If it's amazing, I might surprise him with the set. :)

    1. I love comics! <3

Just starting out... The Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows just started a new ARC, so you shouldn't feel lost if you start with issue #20. Both #20 and #21 are out, but #21 is the issue that was released this past Wednesday. Let's see... X-Men Red is good, but I would recommend starting that one from the beginning, if you can. There are a lot of small details interwoven into the overall story. Domino just released issue #4 and I am LOVING it, so that would be easy to get into right now. I enjoyed the first few issues of Runaways by Rainbow Rowell, but I'm behind right now! Let me know if any of these work for you. <3

    2. There are just sooo many things to choose from. You could also check out Comiclist(dot)com and see what's being released that week! They list everything from everyone, but we typically stick with Marvel, IDW and Image.
