My Weekly Pull [9] & Stacking the Shelves [5]

My Weekly Pull is something I will be doing every Wednesday to show which comics I had pulled for me that week! If you're into comics, or you're looking to start, please join me! Leave a link in the comments if you decide to do your own post. I would love to stop by and check it out!

I know it's not Wednesday! My son recently turned four, so we've been spending a lot of time together as a family (J took off for an entire week), and my posts have been few and scattered. It's Friday, so technically these are still the comics I got this week, but I wasn't able to get them on Wednesday. ๐Ÿ˜

Hit-Girl #1 by Mark Millar, Ricardo Lopez, Kim Jung Gi
Amazing Spider-Man #796 by Dan Slott, Mike Hawthorne, Alex Ross
Astonishing X-Men #8 by Charles Soule, Paulo Siqueira, Mike Deodato
Black Panther Annual #1 by Christopher Priest, Daniel Acua, Brian Stelfreeze

Daredevil #599 by Charles Soule, Ron Garney, Dan Mora
Incredible Hulk #713 by Greg Pak, Greg Land
Infinity Countdown Prime #1 by Gerry Duggan, Mike Deodato, Marcos Martin
Tales of Suspense #102 (of 5) by Matthew Rosenberg, Travel Foreman, Yasmine Putri
Venom #162 by Cullen Bunn, Will Robson

I still don't know how Spider-Man breathes in that mask. You'd think he'd want his nose or mouth exposed instead of re-breathing all of his own air. I doubt he has some sort of air filter in there. Yuck. See Daredevil? He's blind, but at least he can breathe normally! I guess I never noticed, but Black Panther seems to have the same problem as Spider-Man. Is it for anonymity? I don't think it's to protect that area of their face.

I don't know if I'm going to read Hit-Girl, because that's one Jacob wanted to read. It seems too violent for me. Infinity Countdown Prime is what follows the end of Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm curious where the story will start! Tales of Suspense is getting interesting! I love those three.

  1. You’ve got lots of reading ahead of you. I don’t know where I’d start either.

  2. Glad you got to have a lot of family time. We had unexpected family time this week when we had three snow days. We had fun playing outside. I forgot all about the new Stiefvater, no one has reviewed it that I have seen. I enjoyed the Wedding Date. It was fun.

    1. Unexpected family time is always great! Three snow days?! I live in Texas, so we don't get those, haha. Although, my son has been begging me for months to build a snowman. I told him we'd have to travel somewhere for that!

  3. I don't think I've ever read a comic book before. I realized a few months ago that there are a lot of different genres that I've never read, and so I'm trying to expand my reading this year!

    1. There are so many different comics to choose from! If you like X-Men, I would suggest Astonishing X-Men (it's been really great so far). Gwenpool is funny, Hawkeye is suspenseful with a lot of humor. Moon Knight is dark and violent. You can always check back here to see what I'm reading! I'm always trying new comics.

  4. I've never thought about that, how is he breathing? The moisture building behind that leather, so unhygienic. I can't wait to see what you think of Caraval! I absolutely loved it but was in such a small minority with that one strangely. I wanted to love All The Crooked Saints but I've realised that after trying to read The Raven Boys as well, Maggie Stiefvater just isn't my sort of author unfortunately. So many new beauties! Be still my heart! <3 <3

    1. I hate that you didn't enjoy The Raven Boys! I adored that series! You're the second person to mention Caraval specifically, so I think I'm going to start with it. I have the audiobook from my library. Did you read or listen?

Right?! How does he breathe? Jacob said he's "super smart and invents stuff," and assumes there is a filter in there, BUT WHERE? We see him pull his mask up all the time and there's nothing there, just the material itself. Jacob is trying to convince me that the suit itself has a filter, but I'm not buying it, lol.

  5. I've always wondered how spider man breathes in that mask too. Then I saw Deadpool and wondered how he breathes in that tight mask too.

    1. Yes! Deadpool! Iron Man makes sense. His suit does a zillion things, so filtering air is obvious. However, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Deadpool--what do they do? It might be like wearing those green spandex body suits? Like, for a green screen or Halloween costume. ๐Ÿคท

  6. I've been eyeing Song of Blood and Stone for a while now because of that stunning cover. I hope you enjoy all of your new books and comics!

    1. Thank you! Hit-Girl looks like it might rival Moon Knight in violence and gore. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

  10. I'm reading Caraval now and it's good so far. So many comics that I need to look and see if I have them at the library or if I need to add them to my order for this month. Thanks for sharing these, I'm always trying to keep the collection up. I also have Song of Blood and Stone and can't wait to read it. Have a great week!

    1. Yay! Another comic book reader! There are sooo many comics to choose from, lol. What do you like to read? Does your library have a pretty good collection?

Caraval is my next read! I'm also really excited to start Song of Blood and Stone.

I hope you have a great week, too!

  11. What do you think of the Priest version of Panther? After seeing the movie I want to read some of the comics I've missed, and I've heard his stuff is good. I think Tales of suspense looks good. I just read Prelude to Infinity by Hickman and it was a pretty decent Avengers story.

Yeah the mask thing- you know I've never thought of that, but now that you mention it- eww lol.

Caraval is one I need to read, especially with Legendary coming.

    1. The comic has an incredibly slow start. I don't think you see Black Panther at all in the first issue, just a lot of backstory and setup. It's gotten better since, but I still need to read the newest one. I usually like to read the first three comics in a series before I make an overall judgement. It's like giving a book 50 pages.

I still haven't seen the Black Panther movie! My husband and son saw it last week, but I still need to. I've been avoiding Twitter because I don't want anyone to spoil it. I haven't read Prelude to Infinity, but I do love the Avengers.

      Yes! Gross!

Caraval is what I'm reading next! It was the most mentioned book on this post, so I'm just going to go with it.

  12. Spiderman's mask doesn't look like it leaves a lot of room for breathing now that you mention it. Enjoy your new books. I hope to get to Caraval soon. Happy birthday to your son.
