My Weekly Pull [8]

My Weekly Pull is something I will be doing every Wednesday to show which comics I had pulled for me that week! If you're into comics, or you're looking to start, please join me! Leave a link in the comments if you decide to do your own post. I would love to stop by and check it out!

Kick-Ass #1 by Mark Millar, John Romita, Olivier Coipel
Amazing Spider-Man Annual #42 by Dan Slott, Cory Smith, Mike Hawthorne
Amazing Spider-Man Review Your Vows #16 by Jody Houser, Nathan Stockman, Ryan Stegman
Despicable Deadpool #294 by Gerry Duggan, Matteo Lolli, Daniel Warren Johnson
Falcon #5 by Rodney Barnes, Joshua Cassara, Jay Anacleto

Marvel Two-In-One #3 by Chip Zdarsky, Valerio Schiti, Jim Cheung
Ms. Marvel #27 by G. Willow Wilson, Nico Leon, Valerio Schiti
Old Man Hawkeye #2 (of 12) by Ethan Sacks, Marco Checchetto
Punisher #221 by Matthew Rosenberg, Guiu Vilanova, Clayton Crain
X-Men Blue #21 by Cullen Bunn, Jacopo Camagni, Arthur Adams

I'm behind on a few of these, but I'm trying to catch up tonight! Kick-Ass and X-Men Blue are new for us, but Jacob really wanted to read the Poison X crossover, and I think he's always been a fan of Kick-Ass. I believe it's going to be a female this time, so that's new! (All of this is speculation based on the cover, and all I know for sure is that it's a new person.)

There are a lot of Hulk variants out there right now, but only a few we've liked. However, I really have loved all of the covers for Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows! There's just something about them!

I don't know if Ms. Marvel will be a comic I continue reading. I was going to read the most recent issue and then the new one before making a final decision. I'm just not as invested in her story right now as I would like to be. J really likes Falcon, but it wasn't one I got super excited about either. It's very, er, political at first, and then it gets weird. I don't know, maybe that's your thing!

Anyone else reading comics this week? Find anything new? Let me know!

    1. I started on her Legacy issue (#25, I think), so I've only read three myself!

    1. That's one that Jacob reads! I'm worried it will be too graphic, because I don't think Frank castle knows how to be anything else, lol.

  4. Weird? Makes me curious. LOL I am curious about the Kick Ass ones. I haven't even seen the movies or read anything about them. Glad you are enjoying it!

    1. What's weird? The woman on the cover? I haven't seen the movies either, but Jacob has. It's a comic he's wanting to try, so I might read it eventually (if he says it's good, lol).

  5. I haven't read a comic since I was a teenager but there used to be a comic book shop around the corner from me and I used to take my daughter in there when she was a teen and she loved it.

    1. It's always a fun place to visit! Does your daughter read comics? Then or now?

  6. X-Men Blue has me curious, I have to admit. And maybe MArve Two-In-One? I read Black Bolt Vol. 1 this week and liked it, in spite of some issues with the art. I read Hawkeye Anchor Points too on your rec, and liked it- so thanks! I'll be continuing with both of those probably...

    1. The Marvel To-In-One has been pretty good so far. I'm curious if it will eventually explain what happened to Sue Storm and Reed Richards (also, their two children). They hint at their disappearance in the beginning. I've always wondered...

Oh, and why is Dr. Doom EVERYWHERE??

I'm glad you liked Hawkeye, though I'm confused about Anchor Points... what is that? I've never read an Inhuman comic! Black Bolt was good? It's distracting when you don't like the art.

  7. Dr. Doom is a bit played out, although I haven't been reading a lot of new stuff- are they over using him?

Anchor Points was just the name of the volume, I think? Hopefully I read the right one? And Black Bolt was good- if you've heard anything about the Inhumans, he was their king. Was being the operative phrase I guess. It was good in spite of the somewhat psychedelic art!

    1. I just feel like I've been seeing him everywhere--Gwenpool, Ironheart/Iron Man, Marvel Two-in-One, and I think there was something else. Oh, I believe he makes a small appearance in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

Anchor Points could have been her story arc. Did you read the graphic novel, or the first issue of the comic? (I just checked--Anchor Points is the beginning of Kate Bishop, so you're good, lol. Issues 1-6 according to Google.)

I know who Black Bolt is, but I haven't read any of his comics, or any of the other Inhuman comics. I don't know why... He was their king, though? Is this what they based the TV show on? I haven't seen that either, but previews showed him coming to Earth because his brother (the awful, disgusting guy from Game of Thrones--ugh) decided to take over.

Psychedelic art? I think that would make my head hurt. A good illustrator can really make or break a story.

    2. I feel like dude should still be their king even if his baby bro has a superiority complex. ๐Ÿคท

    3. Yeah I read Vol 1 of Kate Bishop and now I need to get Vol. 2! I decided to write a review, it'll be up one of these days lol.

Black Bolt is pretty cool so far although I've never seen the show. I heard it was pretty terrible. :) The second volume of Black Bolt doesn't come out til June though, So I guess I'll have to get the individual issues for now to continue the story...

    4. I'll look for it! Her story is ending soon, so be prepared for that! I'm not sure how many GN volumes that will make... 2-3? I don't really know how those work.

I may give Black Bolt a chance since I'm trying to fill a few holes. I heard the series was meh, too.
