Once & Future had a FANTASTIC first issue, and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series. Michigan vs. the Boys DOES sound heavy, so I'll likely need to be in the mood to read it. <3Lindsi https://www.blogger.com/profile/13480991226741687503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15824987442107017.post-63823850097556282442019-09-22T21:44:08.832-04:002019-09-22T21:44:08.832-04:00Let's try this again, ha ha. He always try to do what's right, and he fights for something better. He risks his life, and who he is as Peter Parker, every time he wears that suit. No one is forcing him to do that. I've also never thought of him as grim or pessimistic. He was pretty down for awhile after Uncle Ben, but that's totally understandable. Trolls! What do they know?

I read Marvel's 80th anniversary edition, and it was ALL over the place. I enjoyed a few of the individual stories, but disliked it as a whole. There was too much going on, but also a background story that tied them all together? He's about as optimistic as they come, and he's always cracking jokes too, which is a lot of his appeal. He's not grim at all, that I've seen. Yeah some people just like to start shit. :)

I'm not really reading any Marvel right now (I know)!! but I was just surprised to see Waid doing a history- his name was familiar as I've read some of his stuff. Can you imagine writing a history of the Marvel U though? The continuity is so muddled after all these years, that would be a tough undertaking lol. :) Greghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17515345156687765162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15824987442107017.post-9492289630861094462019-09-21T19:59:19.767-04:002019-09-21T19:59:19.767-04:00I'm loving the Firefly cover! Someone was trolling Tom Taylor on Twitter (he's currently writing Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man), and someone said "he's not optimistic, you clown," or something similar (talking about Spider-Man). It was weird and not at all related to the tweet Tom put out promoting his new comics coming out. I responded to Tom specifically, and the guy trolled our conversation trying to start shit. I responded a few times to make my point, but then ignored the dumb-dumb. He asked me when Spider-Man had ever been optimistic, and I said "every fucking time he puts on his suit," because being Spider-Man doesn't do Peter any favors. Peter actually really struggles in the "real world" and being Spider-Man has only complicated his life. However, he still fights the bad guys because he believes he can make a difference in someone's life. He believes in doing good. That's optimism! He knows the world is fucked up, that his life is difficult, but he tries to see the good in what he has and what he does. I had to show real restraint in not responding any more to the troll -- hard to do!

History of the Marvel Universe isn't one I'm reading, so I can't really comment on it! Girls today need to know they can pursue their interests without worrying about bias and a double standard. If a girl wants to play football, she should be allowed that opportunity. Saying "the locker room is no place for a girl" says more about the other players and coaches than it does about the girl. I'm really looking forward to reading this one and seeing how it's handled. :)Lindsi https://www.blogger.com/profile/13480991226741687503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15824987442107017.post-82007221188592189782019-09-19T18:24:04.859-04:002019-09-19T18:24:04.859-04:00The book takes on bro-culture and toxic masculinit...The book takes on bro-culture and toxic masculinity, as well as the bias women constantly face, and the double standard we are always up against in society in general. I think I'd have read the tweenie cheese (I used to love those movies!) but the assault angle pushes it into a different territory and would put me off...
